Perfect French toast for Christmas morning - cover

Here is the Perfect French toast for Christmas morning. We made several recipes of French toast. Here’s another one for the morning of December 25th … or every other day of the year.

Usually, I take brioche bread at my local bakery, Autumn Bakery, named Pullman Bread. He is so perfect! It is only offered on weekends, and in limited quantities, but you can order it, it is under the name of Pullman bread that you will find it. But this time, it was brioche bread President’s Choice brand imported from France that we had at home, courtesy of mom.

1 tablespoon scotch whisky The Dalmore

Preparation of the Perfect French toast for Christmas morning

Lightly beat the eggs, cream, milk, whisky, maple syrup and salt in a large shallow dish (a lasagna dish is perfect). Add the bread, turn to coat, then gently press the bread until you feel it begins to absorb the cream/milk mixture—this is the key to a succulent, not dry texture. Soak about ten minutes.

Turn the bread over and soak on the second side, pressing gently from time to time, until the bread is saturated but not soggy, another 10 minutes or more. If your slices are thinner, soak a little shorter.

Heat 1 tablespoon butter and 1 tablespoon oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. When foaming disappears, gently lift the slices of bread from the mixture, allow the excess to drip into the pan, and cook in the pan until golden and the center of the toast comes back into place. When you touch it, about 2 minutes on each side.

Transfer the toast to a rack placed inside a bordered baking sheet and keep warm in the oven while you bake other slices of bread.

Then put everything on a plate, add your favorite toppings!

Your Perfect French toast for Christmas morning is ready to serve!
